Malcolm McLeanMalcolm McLean, OBE

Malcolm McLean OBE, has been Chief Executive of The Pensions Advisory Service (TPAS) for the last 8 years. Prior to that, he was General Manager/Secretary to the former Occupational Pensions Board.

His earlier career was mainly as a civil servant with the DSS on pensions policy and at the “sharp end” in the delivery of benefits. He was seconded for a year in the financial services sector with Barclays Bank.

Malcolm is himself, a well-known speaker on pension courses and conferences and frequently broadcasts on radio and television (especially BBC2’s Working Lunch programme). In the Pension Management 2003 Awards he received the individual award for “Outstanding Contribution to the Pensions Industry”. At the 2005 UK Pensions Awards ceremony held in April last year he was voted “Pensions Personality of the Year”.

A Lancastrian by birth, Malcolm now lives in Hampstead in North London. He is married with a grown up daughter.

Tom joined Hargreaves Lansdown in 2002 as the company's Head of Pensions Research. He has worked in the life and pensions industry for 19 years, with previous experience working for insurance companies and as Head of Pensions for a small IFA firm. Tom is one of the UK's most widely quoted pensions commentators, with frequent appearances in the national press, on radio and television. He writes regular monthly columns for both trade and consumer publications, and has been involved in Government research and consultations on pensions reform. In recent months Tom has worked on developing Hargreaves Lansdown’s pension strategy and SIPP product in advance of A-day this year.

Brendan Mooney is a Partner in Hymans Robertson where he heads the Firm’s Pensions Administration Practice. Brendan joined Hymans Robertson in 1999 and is responsible for all the administration services which the Firm provides to clients. He is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and a member of the Society of Pension Consultants Administration Committee. Brendan has 25 years’ experience in providing pensions administration services for both final salary and money purchase type schemes.
